David Bizar

David brings a wealth of experience to consumer law matters.  David is recognized as a preeminent lawyer in the field of financial services law.  Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White Inc.) lists David for Financial Services Regulation Law (2021-2023) and named him “Lawyer of the Year” for Financial Services Regulation Law (2023).  David is also a Member of the Governing Committee of the Conference on Consumer Finance Law and is a Fellow and former Regent of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers.

David has litigated to judgment and through appeal some of the most important issues and cases nationally involving the legality of consumer products and services, particularly ones involving financial services.  Before returning to his roots to rejoin the consumer’s side, David spent more than 25 years litigating over 600 consumer cases including dozens of class actions and regulatory enforcement matters, and over 100 appeals, involving a vast array of consumer protection claims brought against national and state banks, credit unions, mortgage and student lenders and servicers, manufacturer and third-party automotive finance companies, credit card issuers, short-term money lenders, national and regional retailers, and other businesses.  He is serving as an expert witness on the issue of the fairness of a $300 million consumer finance class action settlement.  David has also represented clients in and outside of bankruptcy cases involving creditor’s and debtor’s rights, lender liability, judgment enforcement, and sanctions, among other issues.

David began his law practice as an Army JAG when he served four years on active duty at the rank of Captain with the 1st Cavalry Division as a legal assistance officer, chief of legal assistance, and as a prosecutor.  David was also attached to the 4th Infantry Division as a trial defense counsel.  In 1996, he deployed with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division during Operation Desert Strike to the Emirate of Kuwait, where he served as legal advisor to the commander and was awarded The Army Achievement Medal for meritorious service.  While serving, he graduated from the United States Army Infantry School Airborne (Paratrooper) Course.  David brings that same level of commitment and hard-charging dedication to every client’s case.
