Karla is a litigation attorney in the firm’s Chicago office. She is dedicated to getting the best possible outcome for her clients, ensuring they maintain their dignity through what can sometimes be a tiring recovery process. Although each case and client differ, Karla lends the same tenacity, warmth, and attention to every client. The daughter of Cuban immigrants, Karla speaks Spanish and delights in the opportunity to collaborate with her Spanish-speaking clients in their native tongue through the pendency of their case.
Karla came to DJC Law with years of litigation experience in personal injury, real estate, construction, employment, and criminal law. In 2024, Karla was selected by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in Personal Injury Law. She has prosecuted and defended cases in court through all stages of litigation. As early as her second year of law school, Karla conducted bench trials and argued contested motions while working with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and later with the Cook County Public Defender. Since then, she has conducted several jury trials in Cook County and in the neighboring collar counties.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Karla obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2020, earning a Certificate in Litigation. She also received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Tax Crimes & Controversies and Advanced Estate Planning. Karla graduated from The Ohio State University in 2016, with a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in Political Science with a Focus in Cooperation, Conflict, and Violence and a Minor in French.
When not advocating for her clients, Karla enjoys painting, cooking, and spending time with friends indulging in all the live shows, food, and art Chicago has to offer.
