Pete Rutter

Pete Rutter grew up in Katy, Texas, and attended Baylor University as a walk-on football player. He earned a scholarship during his sophomore year, and by the time he finished his college football career, he had earned All-SWC honors three consecutive years and honorable mention All-American honors his senior year. He graduated from Baylor University in 1990 with a BBA degree and realized that he wasn’t done pursuing his athletic dreams. Although not drafted, he signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers organization following graduation from Baylor University. His experience with the business end of athletics led Pete to attend law school after his playing career was over.

Pete attended law school at Tulsa College of Law and started his practice in Tyler, Texas, specializing in litigation and defending individuals and companies at trial. In his 28-year legal career, Pete has handled thousands of litigation cases to their conclusion and has tried over 150 cases to jury verdicts on behalf of his clients. Pete’s extensive knowledge of the courtroom along with his ability to handle every situation that comes his way is what makes him an excellent trial lawyer. Pete has brought his vast courtroom experience to DJC Law joining the firm in 2021. Pete is a Senior Trial Attorney with DJC Law and handles complex personal injury cases for the firm.

When Pete is not practicing law, he can be found at his farm outside of Mexia, Texas. He raises longhorn cattle, chickens, and other critters with his son, Thomas, and has a herd of dogs keeping watch over the place.
