Pete Rutter grew up in Katy, Texas and attended Baylor University as a walk-on football player. He earned a scholarship during his sophomore year and by the time he was finished with his college football career he earned All-SWC honors three consecutive years and honorable mention All-American honors his senior year. He graduated from Baylor University in 1990 with a BBA degree and realized that he wasn’t done pursuing his athletic dreams. Although not drafted, he signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers organization following graduation from Baylor University.
